Hertzberg Perma-Bound Installs new three knife paper trimmer from Colter & Peterson

Colter & Peterson has completed installation of a new Accutrim HD1680 three knife trimmer with Hertzberg-New Method Inc. The Jacksonville, Illinois company includes Perma-Bound, a leader in the book rebinding industry and provider of reinforced paperback books to school and libraries nationwide for more than 40 years.

C&P is North America’s largest independent distributor of paper cutters and paper handling equipment. The company introduced and operated the three knife trimmer in tandem with a new 57-inch precision sheeter at last month’s Print ’13 show in Chicago.

The Accutrim HD1680 three knife trimmer is fast, efficient and very flexible. Computer controlled make-ready for through feed or one-man operation, it accommodates a wide variety of book dimensions for quiet and accurate trimming. It also delivers a 5-degree swing angle for the highest quality cut, which reduces wear and tear and extends the lifecycle of the knife.

“The HD 1680 is extremely user-friendly and offers many benefits that you can’t find with most off-line, on-demand three knife trimmers today,” said Vince Payne, Vice President of Colter & Peterson. “Its 99-channel program is designed for automatic in-feed and knife adjustments, and the simple color touch screen helps with fast set-up and troubleshooting. Minor format changes take less than one minute, and complete format changes can be done under three minutes. And the one piece cutting table helps prevent the bottom book from marking and makes for higher production values, as well as safer cutting stick and format changes.”

The Accutrim HD1680 offers a maximum book thickness of 3.5”. It has a maximum trim size of 11.8” x 16.5” and minimum trim of 3.15” x 3.15. For more information, visit www.papercutters.com.
